EUROPEAN SUCCESSION REGULATION

Regulation 650/2012 harmonizes Private International Law on Succession in the European Union. The Regulation regulates international jurisdiction, applicable law, the recognition and enforcement of public decisions and documents, and creates the European Certificate of Succession.

We must apply it when the causer was a national of a Member State and at the time of his death had his habitual residence in another Member State.

Wills can determine the law we want to apply to our estate. The choice of law is one of the most important aspects of the Regulation.

When we find a succession with an international element, we take into account all the necessary aspects in order to guarantee the will of the causer and the legal security of the heirs.
